Hadith 33:419
'Abd al-Samad ibn 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, al-Qasim—meaning Ibn al-Fadl, and he is al-Haddani—narrated to us, Sa'id ibn al-Muhallab narrated to us, from Talq ibn Habib, who said: I was among the people who most strongly denied intercession, until I met Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah. I recited to him every verse in which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, mentioned the eternal abiding of the people of the Fire. He said: "O Talq, do you see yourself as more learned in the Book of Allah than me, and more knowledgeable of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?" I humbled myself before him and said: "No, by Allah, rather you are more learned in the Book of Allah than me, and more knowledgeable of his Sunnah than me." He said: "Indeed, those whom you read about are the polytheists. But there are people who committed sins, so they were punished for them, then they were brought out." He gestured with his hands toward his ears—may they be deafened—if I did not hear the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "They will be brought out of the Fire," and we recite what you recite.
