Musnad Ahmad 33:487

Hassan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "A woman was punished because of a cat—or a female cat—which she tied up until it died, and she did not release it so that it could eat from the vermin of the earth, so the Fire became mandatory for her because of that."
