Musnad Ahmad 33:512

Abdullah narrated to us: My father said: And in another place, I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say during a military expedition he undertook: "Increase your supply of sandals, for a man remains as if he is riding as long as he is wearing sandals."
