'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Umayyah, 'Abdullah ibn 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr informed me, that 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Ubaydullah—or 'Abdullah, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: "I am in doubt"—informed him, he said: I asked Jabir ibn 'Abdullah about the hyena, and he said: "It is lawful." I said: "From the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?" He said: "Yes." 'Abdullah narrated to us, my father and Yahya ibn Ma'in narrated to me, they said: 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Zayd al-San'ani narrated to us, that he heard Abu al-Zubayr al-Makki, from Jabir, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, "forbade the price of a cat." 'Abdullah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Ma'in said: 'Abd al-Razzaq said to me: "Write from me even one hadith without a book." I said: "No, not even a letter." 'Abdullah narrated to us, he said: I heard Sufyan ibn Waki' say: I heard my father, and he mentioned 'Abd al-Razzaq, and he said: "He resembles the men of the people of Iraq." 'Abdullah narrated to us, he said: And I heard my father say: "There was no well in the village of 'Abd al-Razzaq, so we used to go early in the morning for two miles, perform ablution, and carry water with us."
