Musnad Ahmad 33:60

Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah, from 'Ata', from Jabir ibn 'Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The *'umra* (gift of a house for life) is permissible for its people, or it is an inheritance for its people."
