Abu Salamah narrated to us, Bakr bin Mudar informed us, from ‘Amr bin Jabir al-Hadrami, that he heard Jabir bin ‘Abdullah saying: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying regarding the plague: "The one who flees from it is like the one who flees on the day of the advance (in battle), and whoever remains patient in it, for him is the reward of a martyr."
