Yunus narrated to us, Laith narrated to us, from Yazid—meaning Ibn al-Had—from Yahya ibn Sa'id, from Ja'far ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hakam, from al-Qa'qa' ibn Hakim, from Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "Cover the vessel and tie the waterskin, for there is a night in the year in which a plague descends. It does not pass by a vessel that is not covered, nor a waterskin that is not tied, but that some of that plague falls into it."
