Musnad Ahmad 33:713

Yunus narrated to us, Layth narrated to us, from Yazid—meaning Ibn al-Had—from Umar ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn, that he said: It reached me that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Reduce going out during the stillness of the night, for Allah has creatures He spreads out. So if you hear the barking of a dog or the braying of a donkey, seek refuge in Allah from the Shaytan." And he said: Layth narrated to us, he said: Yazid said: And Shurahbil narrated this hadith to me, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, he said: That he heard it from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
