Qutaybah narrated to us, Al-Mufaddal ibn Fadalah narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from ‘Ata’ and Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir: "That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade *al-mukhabarah* (sharecropping), *al-muzabanah* (selling fresh dates for dried dates on the tree), *al-muhaqalah* (selling standing crops for harvested grain), and the sale of fruit until it is edible, except for *al-‘araya* (the sale of fresh dates on the tree for dried dates in a small amount for personal consumption)."
