Musnad Ahmad 33:78

Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj narrated to us, they said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from Muharib ibn Dithar, who said: I heard Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari say: A man from the Ansar approached with two camels of his for irrigation, and the sun had inclined, and Mu'adh was praying the Maghrib prayer. He entered the prayer with him, and Mu'adh began reciting al-Baqarah or an-Nisa'—it is Muharib who is in doubt. When the man saw that, he prayed [separately], then left. It was conveyed to him that Mu'adh had criticized him—Hajjaj said: "criticized him"—so he mentioned that to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He said: "Are you a tempter, O Mu'adh? Are you a tempter, O Mu'adh?" or "A tempter, a tempter, a tempter"—and Hajjaj said: "Are you a tempter, are you a tempter, are you a tempter?"—"Why did you not recite 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' (Surah Al-A'la) and 'By the sun and its brightness' (Surah Ash-Shams)? For there prays behind you the elderly, the person with a need, or the weak"—I think it is Muharib who is in doubt regarding [the word] 'the weak'."
