Hadith 33:826
Husayn ibn Muhammad and Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us, they said: al-Rabi’—meaning Ibn Sabih—narrated to us, from ‘Ata’, from Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah, who said: We arrived with the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) on the morning of the fourth day that had passed of Dhu al-Hijjah, all of us having entered into the state of ihram for Hajj. The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) commanded us, so we performed tawaf around the House, prayed the two rak'ahs, and performed sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah. Then he commanded us, so we shortened our hair. Then he said: "Become lawful (exit the state of ihram)." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, lawful for what?" He said: "Lawful for what is lawful for the one who is not in ihram: women and perfume." He said: So I approached my women, and the incense burners flared up. Khalaf said: And it reached him that some of them were saying: "One of us goes to Mina while his private part is dripping with semen." He said: So he addressed them, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "If I had known in the beginning of my affair what I have come to know in the end, I would not have brought the sacrificial animal (hady), and had I not brought the sacrificial animal, I would have become lawful. So take your rites." He said: The people stood up having exited their ihram, until when it was the Day of Tarwiyah and they intended to head to Mina, they entered into the state of ihram for Hajj. He said: The sacrificial animal was upon those who could afford it, and fasting was upon those who could not. He made them partners in their sacrificial animals: the camel for seven, and the cow for seven. Their tawaf around the House and their sa'i between al-Safa and al-Marwah for their Hajj and their ‘Umrah was one tawaf and one sa'i.
