Musnad Ahmad 33:838

Muhammad ibn Sabiq narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Tahman narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, that he said: A woman from the Jews in Medina gave birth to a boy whose eye was wiped away, protruding and bulging. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, feared that he might be the Dajjal. He found him under a velvet cloth, muttering. His mother alerted him and said: "O Abdullah, this is Abu al-Qasim who has come, so go out to him." He came out from under the velvet cloth. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "What is the matter with her? May Allah kill her! If she had left him, he would have clarified." Then he said: "O Ibn Sa'id, what do you see?" He said: "I see truth, and I see falsehood, and I see a throne upon the water." He said: So he confused him. He said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said to him: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "I believe in Allah and His messengers." Then he went out and left him. Then he came to him another time and found him in a palm grove of his, muttering. His mother alerted him and said: "O Abdullah, this is Abu al-Qasim who has come." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "What is the matter with her? May Allah kill her! If she had left him, he would have clarified." He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was hoping to hear something from his speech so he would know if he was him [the Dajjal] or not. He said: "O Ibn Sa'id, what do you see?" He said: "I see truth, and I see falsehood, and I see a throne upon the water." He said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said to him: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "I believe in Allah and His messengers." So he confused him, then he went out and left him. Then he came a third or fourth time, and with him were Abu Bakr and Umar ibn al-Khattab among a group of the Muhajirun and the Ansar, and I was with him. He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, hurried ahead of us, hoping to hear something from his speech. His mother reached him before him and said: "O Abdullah, this is Abu al-Qasim who has come." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "What is the matter with her? May Allah kill her! If she had left him, he would have clarified." He said: "O Ibn Sa'id, what do you see?" He said: "I see truth, and I see falsehood, and I see a throne upon the water." He said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "I believe in Allah and His messengers." So he confused him. Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "O Ibn Sa'id, I have hidden something for you, so what is it?" He said: "The smoke, the smoke." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "Be driven away, be driven away!" Umar ibn al-Khattab said: "Permit me to kill him, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "If it is him, you are not his master; his master is Isa ibn Maryam. And if it is not him, you have no right to kill a man from the people of the covenant." He said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, remained fearful that he was the Dajjal.
