'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from Mansur, from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: A boy was born to a man from the Ansar, and he named him al-Qasim. The Ansar said: "By Allah, we will never give you the kunya (patronymic) of him." This reached the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, so he praised the Ansar with good, then said: "Name yourselves with my name, but do not use my kunya."
