Hadith 33:881
Azhar ibn al-Qasim and Kathir ibn Hisham narrated to us, they said: Hisham narrated to us, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir, who said: I fell ill, and I had seven sisters with me. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered upon me and sprinkled [water] on my face, so I regained consciousness. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I bequeath two-thirds to my sisters?" He said: "Do better." I said: "Half?" He said: "Do better." He said: Then he went out and left me. Then he returned and said: "O Jabir, I do not see you dying from this illness of yours, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has revealed and clarified what is for your sisters, and He has assigned two-thirds to them." He said: Jabir used to say: "This verse was revealed regarding: 'They ask you for a legal ruling. Say, Allah gives you a ruling concerning the one who leaves neither descendants nor ascendants as heirs' [An-Nisa: 176]."
