Yazid narrated to us, Sharik ibn Abdullah informed us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said: "A man will emerge upon you—or he said: A man will enter upon you"—meaning a man from the people of Paradise. Then Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, came. Then he said: "A man will emerge upon you—or he will enter upon you—a young man," meaning a man from the people of Paradise. He said: Then Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, came. Then he said: "A man from the people of Paradise will emerge upon you. O Allah, make it Ali. O Allah, make it Ali." He said: Then Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, came.
