'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj informed us, he said: 'Ata' said: When Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah arrived for 'Umrah, we came to him at his dwelling. The people asked him about things, then they mentioned *mut'ah* (temporary marriage) to him. He said: "Yes, we practiced *mut'ah* during the time of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and Abu Bakr, and 'Umar, until it was in the latter part of the caliphate of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)."
