Musnad Ahmad 33:998

Rawh ibn ‘Ubadah narrated to us, Ibn Jurayj narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me that he heard Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah being asked about the *Wurud* (arrival at the bridge over Hell). He said: "We will be on the Day of Resurrection like this and that"—he gestured, meaning: above the people. He said: "The nations will be summoned with their idols and what they used to worship, the first then the next. Then our Lord will come to us after that and say: 'Whom are you waiting for?' They will say: 'We are waiting for our Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.' He will say: 'I am your Lord.' They will say: 'Until we look at You.' Then He will manifest Himself to them, laughing." He said: "I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: 'Then He will set off with them, and they will follow Him. Every person, hypocrite or believer, will be given a light. Then they will follow Him upon the bridge of Hell, [which has] hooks and thorns that seize whomever Allah wills. Then the light of the hypocrite will be extinguished, then the believers will be saved. The first group will be saved, their faces like the moon on the night of the full moon, seventy thousand who will not be brought to account. Then those who follow them, like the brightest star in the sky, then likewise.'" "Intercession will be permitted until he who said 'There is no god but Allah' is brought out of the Fire, having in his heart of goodness the weight of a barley grain. They will be placed in the courtyard of the people of Paradise, and the people of Paradise will pour water upon them until they sprout like the sprouting of something in a flood. Then he will ask until he is given the world and ten times more along with it."
