Musnad Ahmad 855:7

'Abd al-Samad narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Yunus and Humayd informed us, from al-Hasan, that Ziyad appointed al-Hakam al-Ghifari over an army. Imran ibn Husayn came to him and met him among the people. He said: "Do you know why I came to you?" He said to him: "Why?" He said: "Do you remember the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to the man whose commander said to him: 'Throw yourself into the fire,' so he held back and refrained? Then he informed the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) of that, and he said: 'If he had thrown himself into it, they would both have entered the Fire. There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah.'" He said: "Yes." He said: "I only wanted to remind you of this hadith."
