Hadith 283:6

'Abd al-Quddus ibn Bakr ibn Khunays narrated to us, he said: Hajjaj informed us, from 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr; and Hajjaj, from Muhammad ibn Sulayman ibn Abi Hathmah, from his uncle Sahl ibn Abi Hathmah, who said: Habibah bint Sahl was married to Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas al-Ansari, and she disliked him, and he was an ugly man. She came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I do not see him [in a favorable light], and were it not for the fear of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, I would have spat in his face." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Will you return to him his garden which he gave you as a dowry?" She said: "Yes." So he sent for him, and she returned his garden to him, and he separated them. He said: That was the first *khul'* (divorce initiated by the wife) that occurred in Islam.
