Musnad Ahmad 456:14

Sufyan narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, who said: Ubayd Allah ibn Abd Allah informed me that he heard Abu Hurayrah, Zayd ibn Khalid al-Juhani, and Shibl—Sufyan said: Some people said "Ibn Ma'bad," but what I memorized is "Shibl"—saying: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when a man stood up and said: "I adjure you by Allah to judge between us by the Book of Allah." His opponent, who was more learned than him, stood up and said: "He has spoken the truth. Judge between us by the Book of Allah the Almighty, and permit me to speak." He [the Prophet] said: "Speak." He said: "My son was a hired servant for this man, and he committed adultery with his wife. I ransomed him [my son] from him with one hundred sheep and a servant. Then I asked some men of knowledge, and they informed me that my son must receive one hundred lashes and be banished for a year, and that this man’s wife must be stoned." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "By Him in whose hand is my soul, I will surely judge between you by the Book of Allah the Almighty. The one hundred sheep and the servant are to be returned to you, and your son shall receive one hundred lashes and be banished for a year. And go, O Unays—a man from Aslam—to this man’s wife; if she confesses, then stone her." So he went to her, and she confessed, so he stoned her.
