Musnad Ahmad 8:128

Yahya ibn Sa’id narrated to us, from Shu’bah, who said: Simak ibn Harb narrated to me, from Mus’ab ibn Sa’d, who said: Four verses were revealed concerning my father. My father said: I found a sword, so I said: "O Messenger of Allah, grant it to me as a spoil." He said: "Put it down." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, grant it to me as a spoil, shall I be placed like one who has no benefit?" He said: "Put it down where you took it from." Then was revealed: "They ask you about the spoils [al-anfal]." He said: And it is in the recitation of Ibn Mas’ud likewise: "Say: The spoils." And my mother said: "Does Allah not command you to maintain ties of kinship and to be dutiful to parents? By Allah, I will not eat food nor drink drink until you disbelieve in Muhammad." So she would not eat until they would pry her mouth open with a stick, and pour the drink into it—Shu’bah said: And I think he said: "And the food"—then was revealed: "And We have enjoined upon man [care for] his parents. His mother carried him, increasing her in weakness upon weakness," and he recited until he reached: "for what you used to do" [Luqman: 14-15]. And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered upon me while I was ill. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I bequeath all my wealth?" He forbade me. I said: "The half?" He said: "No." I said: "The third?" He remained silent. So the people adopted the third. And a man from the Ansar prepared food, so they ate and drank and became intoxicated from wine, and that was before it was prohibited. We gathered at his place and they boasted; the Ansar said: "The Ansar are better," and the emigrants (Muhajirun) said: "The emigrants are better." Then a man reached for him with the jawbone of a camel and split his nose, and Sa’d’s nose was split. Then was revealed: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling..." until His saying: "...so will you not then desist?" [Al-Ma'idah: 90-91].
