Musnad Ahmad 8:34

Ya'qub narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Salih, Ibn Shihab said: 'Abd al-Hamid ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd informed me that Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas informed him that his father, Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, said: 'Umar asked permission to enter upon the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and with him were women from Quraysh who were speaking to him and asking him for much, their voices raised. When he asked for permission, they stood up, hastening to the veil. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) gave him permission, so he entered, and the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was laughing. 'Umar said: "May Allah make your teeth laugh, O Messenger of Allah." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "I am amazed at these women who were with me; when they heard your voice, they hastened to the veil." 'Umar said: "You, O Messenger of Allah, were more deserving of being feared." Then 'Umar said: "O enemies of your own selves, do you fear me and not fear the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)?" They said: "Yes, you are harsher and more rough-tempered than the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, the Shaytan has never met you traveling a path, but that he would travel a path other than your path." 'Abdullah said: My father said, and Ya'qub said: "I do not count how many times I heard him say: Salih narrated to us, from Ibn Shihab."
