Musnad Ahmad 8:45

'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from Ziyad ibn Mikhraq, who said: I heard Abu Na'amah, from a freed slave of Sa'd, that Sa'd heard a son of his supplicating, and he was saying: "O Allah, I ask You for Paradise, its bliss, and its silk brocade," and something similar to this, "and I seek refuge in You from the Fire, its chains, and its shackles." So he said: "You have asked Allah for much good, and you have sought refuge in Allah from much evil. But I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: 'There will be people who will transgress in supplication.'" And he recited this verse: {Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like the transgressors} [Al-A'raf: 55]. "And it is sufficient for you to say: 'O Allah, I ask You for Paradise and whatever brings one closer to it of speech or deed, and I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever brings one closer to it of speech or deed.'"
