Musnad Ahmad 8:65

I read to Abd al-Rahman, from Malik, and Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Malik ibn Anas informed us, from Ibn Shihab, from Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn al-Harith ibn Nawfal ibn Abd al-Muttalib, that he narrated to him: That he heard Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas and al-Dahhak ibn Qays in the year Mu’awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan performed Hajj, and they were mentioning the *Tamattu’* (combining) of the ‘Umrah with the Hajj. Al-Dahhak said: "No one does that except he who is ignorant of the command of Allah." Sa’d said: "How evil is what you have said, O son of my brother." Al-Dahhak said: "For indeed, Umar ibn al-Khattab forbade that." Sa’d said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, performed it, and we performed it with him."
