Musnad of Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (RA)

Hadith 8:78

Ya'la narrated to us, Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Amir ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas narrated to us, from his father, who said: We came with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, until we passed by the mosque of Banu Mu'awiyah. He entered and prayed two rak'ahs, and we prayed with him. He held a long private conversation with his Lord, the Almighty and Majestic. He said: "I asked my Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, for three things: I asked Him not to destroy my nation by drowning, and He granted it to me. I asked Him not to destroy my nation by famine, and He granted it to me. And I asked Him not to cause their violence to be among themselves, but He withheld it from me."
