Musnad Ahmad 8:89

'Abd al-Samad and 'Affan narrated to us, they said: Sulaym ibn Hayyan narrated to us, 'Ikrimah ibn Khalid narrated to us—'Affan said: He narrated to me from Yahya ibn Sa'd, from Sa'd, that the plague was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and he said: "It is a punishment with which those who were before you were afflicted. So if it is in a land, do not enter it, and if you are in a land and it is therein, do not depart from it."
