Hadith 34:4
Rawh narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hafsah narrated to us, al-Zuhri narrated to us, from Safwan ibn Abdullah ibn Safwan, from his father: That it was said to Safwan ibn Umayyah ibn Khalaf: "He who does not migrate has perished." He said: So I said, "I will not reach my family until I come to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." So I rode my mount and came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "O Messenger of Allah, they claim that he who does not migrate has perished." He said: "Not so, Abu Wahb. Return to the lowlands of Makkah." He said: While I was sleeping, a thief came and took my garment from under my head. I caught him and brought him to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said: "This man stole my garment." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered that his hand be cut off. He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, this is not what I wanted; it is a charity for him." He said: "Why did you not do that before you brought him to me?"
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
