'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr narrated to us, he said: 'Abdullah—meaning Ibn Ja'far—narrated to us, from Umm Bakr, that 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf sold a piece of land of his to 'Uthman ibn 'Affan for forty thousand dinars. He then distributed it among the poor of Banu Zuhrah, those in need among the people, and the Mothers of the Believers. Al-Miswar said: I entered upon 'Aishah with her share of that, and she said: "Who sent this?" I said: "'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf." She said: "Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'None shall be kind to you after me except the patient ones.' May Allah give Ibn 'Awf to drink from the Salsabil of Paradise."
