Musnad Ahmad 1153:1104

Yazid narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah informed us, and 'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated from Thabit al-Bunani, from Sumayyah, from 'Aishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was displeased with Safiyyah bint Huyayy. She said to me: "Would you be willing to appease the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on my behalf, and I will give you my day?" I said: "Yes." So I took a head covering of mine that had been dyed with saffron, sprinkled it with water, and then wrapped it around my head—'Affan said: "So that its scent would diffuse"—then I entered upon him on her day and sat by his side. He said: "Move away from me, O 'Aishah, for this is not your day." I said: "It is the bounty of Allah, which He gives to whom He wills." Then I informed him of my news. 'Affan said: "So he was pleased with her."
