'Affan and Bahz narrated to us, they said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr—'Affan said: 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr informed us—from Musa ibn Talhah, from 'Aishah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mentioned Khadijah. I said: "Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has replaced you with a woman"—'Affan said: "with an old woman from the old women of Quraysh"—"from the women of Quraysh, red of the gums, who perished in the past." She said: "His face changed with a change that I would not see except upon the descent of revelation, or at the sight of a cloud, until he would look: is it a mercy or a punishment?"
