Musnad Ahmad 1153:1156

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah, from 'A'ishah, who said: The wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, gathered and sent Fatimah to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. They said to her: "Tell him: 'Your wives ask you for justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah.'" She said: So she entered upon the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was with 'A'ishah in her garment. She said to him: "Your wives have sent me to you, and they ask you for justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to her: "Do you love me?" She said: "Yes." He said: "Then love her." She returned to them and informed them of what he had said to her. They said: "You have not accomplished anything. Return to him." She said: "By Allah, I will never return to him regarding her ever." (Al-Zuhri said: And she was truly the daughter of the Messenger of Allah). So they sent Zaynab bint Jahsh. 'A'ishah said: She was the one who used to rival me among the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. She said: "Your wives have sent me to you, and they ask you for justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah." She said: Then she turned toward me and began to insult me. I began to watch the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and look at his eyes, to see if he would permit me to defend myself against her, but he did not speak. She said: She continued to insult me until I thought that he would not dislike it if I defended myself against her. So I faced her and did not delay until I silenced her. She said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, then said to her: "She is the daughter of Abu Bakr." 'A'ishah said: "And I have not seen a woman better than her, nor more charitable, nor more connected to kinship, nor more giving of herself in everything that draws one closer to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, than Zaynab, except for a sharpness of temper she had, from which she would quickly return."
