Musnad Ahmad 1153:1201

Hajjaj narrated to us, Laith narrated to me, Uqayl narrated to me, from Ibn Shihab, from Urwah, from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that when a deceased person from her family died, and the women gathered then dispersed, except for her family and her close ones, she would order a pot of talbina (barley porridge) to be cooked. Then, tharid (a dish of bread and broth) was made, and the talbina was poured over it. Then she said: "Eat from it, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: 'The talbina is a comfort for the heart of the sick person, and it takes away some of the sadness.'"
