Abu al-Nadr narrated to us, Abu Mu'awiyah—meaning Shayban—narrated to us, from Layth, from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq, from Aisha, that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Kill all snakes, except the *abtar* (short-tailed) jinn-snake among them, and the one with two white lines on its back, for they both kill the child in its mother's womb and cause blindness. Whoever leaves them, he is not of us."
