Hadith 1153:1246
Hisham ibn Sa’id narrated to us, Mu’awiyah—meaning Ibn Sallam—informed us, he said: I heard Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, he said: Abu Qilabah informed me, that ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Shaybah informed him, that ‘Aishah informed him: That the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was struck by pain, so he began to complain and toss and turn on his bed. ‘Aishah said: "If one of us had done this, you would have been angry with them?" The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Indeed, the righteous are dealt with severely. No believer is afflicted with a calamity, from a thorn or anything above that, except that a sin is removed from him by it, and he is raised a degree by it."
