Hadith 1153:1279

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah, from 'Aishah, who said: A Makhzumite woman used to borrow goods and deny them. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ordered the cutting of her hand. Her family came to Usamah ibn Zayd and spoke to him, so Usamah spoke to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, regarding her. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to him: "O Usamah, do I see you speaking to me regarding a prescribed punishment from the prescribed punishments of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic?" Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stood up to deliver a sermon and said: "Those who were before you were only destroyed because when a noble person among them stole, they would leave him, and when a weak person among them stole, they would cut his hand. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, if Fatimah, the daughter of Muhammad, were to steal, I would cut her hand." Then he cut the hand of the Makhzumite woman.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
