Musnad Ahmad 1153:1354

Hushaym narrated to us, he said: Mughirah informed us, from Ibrahim, from Aisha, that she said: When the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded those individuals on the day of Badr, and they were cast into the well—Utbah, Abu Jahl, and their companions—he stood over them and said: "May Allah reward you with evil from a people of a prophet; how evil was the expulsion and how intense the denial." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, how do you speak to a people who have become carrion?" He said: "You are not more understanding of what I say than they are," or: "They are not more understanding of what I say than you."
