Musnad Ahmad 1153:1422

He said: I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Salim ibn Abd Allah, that Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Siddiq informed Abd Allah ibn Umar, from Aisha, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do you not see that when your people built the Kaaba, they fell short of the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" She said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you not restore it to the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Were it not for the recentness of your people's disbelief." He said: Abd Allah ibn Umar said: If Aisha heard this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I do not think the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) refrained from touching the two corners that are adjacent to the Hijr except because the House was not completed upon the foundations of Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
