I read to Abd al-Rahman: Malik, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that she said: "We went out with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on one of his journeys until, when we were at al-Bayda’—or at Dhat al-Jaysh—a necklace of mine broke. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, stayed to look for it, and the people stayed with him, and they were not at a water source, nor did they have water with them. The people came to Abu Bakr and said: 'Do you not see what Aisha has done? She has kept the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the people waiting, while they are not at a water source, nor do they have water with them.' Abu Bakr came while the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had placed his head on my thigh, having fallen asleep. He said: 'You have detained the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the people, while they are not at a water source, nor do they have water with them.' She said: So Abu Bakr rebuked me and said what Allah willed for him to say, and he began to poke my flank with his hand, and nothing prevented me from moving except the position of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on my thigh. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, slept until the people woke up without water. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed the verse of Tayammum, so they performed Tayammum. Usayd ibn al-Hudayr said: 'This is not the first of your blessings, O family of Abu Bakr.' She said: So we sent away the camel I was on, and we found the necklace underneath it."
