'Umar ibn Hafs Abu Hafs al-Mu'ayti narrated to us, he said: Hisham ibn 'Urwah narrated to us, from his father, from 'Aishah, she said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Will you not take a kunyah (a patronymic name)?" I said: "By whom shall I take a kunyah?" He said: "Take a kunyah by your son, 'Abdullah," meaning the son of al-Zubayr. She said: So she was called by the kunyah Umm 'Abdullah.
