Musnad Ahmad 1153:1530

'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah, from 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Qays, that he heard 'Aishah say: "The most beloved of months to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to fast was Sha'ban, then he would join it to Ramadan."
