Hadith 1153:1606
Bahz narrated to us, he said: Ibrahim bin Sa’d narrated to me, from Salih—Bahz said: I said to him: Ibn Kaysan? He said: Yes—from Ibn Shihab, he said: Urwah bin al-Zubayr, Sa’id bin al-Musayyib, Alqamah bin Waqqas, and Ubaydullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah narrated to me, from Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when the people of the slander said to her what they said, and Allah exonerated her. Each of them narrated to me a portion of her hadith, and some of them were more retentive of her hadith than others, and more firm in recounting it. I have memorized from each man among them the hadith which he narrated to me regarding Aisha, and some of their hadith confirms the others, even if some of them were more retentive of it than others. They said: Aisha said: When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, intended to travel, he would cast lots among his wives, and whichever of them her lot came out for, he would take her with him. Then he mentioned the hadith, except that he said: "He gave the signal for departure at night, so I stood up when they gave the signal for departure." And he said: "From the panic of Zafar." And he said: "They are being deceived." And he said: "So I headed toward my place." And Urwah said: I was informed that it was being spread and spoken of in his presence, and he would acknowledge it, listen to it, and seek it out. Urwah also said: None of the people of the slander were named except Hassan bin Thabit, Mistah bin Uthathah, and Hamnah bint Jahsh, among other people I have no knowledge of, except that they were a group, as Allah the Almighty said. And the greatest of that was being said by Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul. Urwah said: Aisha used to dislike that Hassan be insulted in her presence, and she would say: "He is the one who said: 'For my father, his father, and my honor are a shield for the honor of Muhammad from you.'" And she said: "Our affair was the affair of the early Arabs in purity." And she said to her: "Rivals." And he said: "Regarding what he knows of the innocence of his family." And he said: "Then a tame sheep would come and eat it." And he said: "And if he was one of our brothers, the Khazraj." And he said: "Then a man from the Khazraj stood up—and the mother of Hassan was the daughter of his uncle from his tribe—and he was Sa’d bin Ubadah, and he was the leader of the Khazraj." She said: "He was a righteous man before that, but zealotry carried him away." And he said: "My tears dried up." And he said: "And her sister Hamnah began to fight on her behalf." Urwah said: Aisha said: "By Allah, the man who was told what was told to me would say: 'Glory be to Allah! By Him in Whose hand is my soul, I have never uncovered the private parts of a female at all.'" She said: "Then he was killed after that in the way of Allah as a martyr." Abdullah bin Ahmad said: My father said: In one of the two hadiths, there is a pulling (disagreement).
