Musnad Ahmad 1153:1737

Waki' narrated to us, from Usamah ibn Zayd, from al-Qasim, from 'Aishah, that Barirah was a *mukātabah* (a slave who had a contract of manumission), and her husband was a slave. When she was emancipated, she was given the choice (regarding her marriage).
