Musnad Ahmad 1153:1752

Muhammad ibn Bishr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn ‘Amr narrated to us, Abu Salamah narrated to us, from ‘Aishah, she said: When the verse of choice (al-takhyir) was revealed, he said: He began with ‘Aishah and said: "O ‘Aishah, I am presenting a matter to you, so do not act hastily in it regarding anything until you present it to your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what is it?" He said: "O ‘Aishah, I am presenting a matter to you, so do not act hastily in it regarding anything until you present it to your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what is it?" He said: "O ‘Aishah, I am presenting a matter to you, so do not act hastily in it regarding anything until you present it to your parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman." She said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what is it?" He said: Allah said: {O Prophet, say to your wives: If you desire the worldly life and its adornment, then come, I will provide for you and give you a graceful release. But if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the home of the Hereafter, then indeed, Allah has prepared for the doers of good among you a great reward} [Al-Ahzab: 29]. She said: "Indeed, I desire Allah and His Messenger and the home of the Hereafter, and I do not consult my parents, Abu Bakr and Umm Ruman, regarding that." She said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, laughed, then he went to the other wives and said: "Indeed, ‘Aishah said such and such." She said: So they said the like of what ‘Aishah said.
