Musnad Ahmad 1153:1802

Isma'il narrated to us, he said: Dawud narrated to us, from al-Sha'bi, he said: 'Aishah said to Ibn Abi al-Sa'ib, the storyteller of the people of Medina, three things, so that you may follow me in them or I will confront you. He said: What are they? Rather, I will follow you, O Mother of the Believers. She said: "Avoid rhymed prose in supplication, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions did not do that." And Isma'il said once: She said: "I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and his companions, and they did not do that." "And tell stories to the people once every Friday; if you refuse, then twice; if you refuse, then three times. Do not make the people weary of this Book. And let me not find you coming to a people while they are in the midst of their conversation, and you interrupt their conversation for them. Rather, leave them, and if they invite you to it and command you to do so, then speak to them."
