Musnad Ahmad 1153:1820

Bahz narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim, from his father, from Aisha, who said: We entered into the state of ihram for Hajj. When we were at Sarif, I began my menses. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered upon me while I was weeping. He said: "What makes you weep, O Aisha?" I said: "I have begun my menses; I wish I had not performed Hajj." He said: "Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), that is only a thing which Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has decreed for the daughters of Adam. Perform all the rites of the pilgrimage, except that you do not circumambulate the House." She said: When we entered Makkah, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever wishes to make it an Umrah, let him make it an Umrah, except for those who have the sacrificial animal with them." She said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, slaughtered cows on behalf of his wives on the Day of Sacrifice. When it was the night at al-Batha, I became pure. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, my companions are returning with a Hajj and an Umrah, while I am returning with a Hajj." So he commanded Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr, and he took me to al-Tan'im, and I entered into the state of ihram for an Umrah.
