Hadith 1153:1834
Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Ibn Jurayj said: 'Ata' claimed that he heard 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr reporting, he said: I heard 'Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, reporting that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to stay with Zaynab bint Jahsh and drink honey at her place. So, Hafsa and I conspired that whichever of us the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered upon, she should say: "I detect the smell of Maghafir (a foul-smelling resin) from you; did you eat Maghafir?" He entered upon one of them, and she said that to him. He said: "Rather, I drank honey at the place of Zaynab bint Jahsh, and I will never return to it." Then [the verse] was revealed: "O Prophet, why do you prohibit [yourself from] what Allah has made lawful for you?" (At-Tahrim: 1). "If you two repent [to Allah]" (At-Tahrim: 4) refers to 'Aisha and Hafsa. "And [remember] when the Prophet confided to one of his wives a statement" (At-Tahrim: 3) refers to his saying: "Rather, I drank honey."
