Hadith 1153:1938

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah, from 'Aishah, she said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, never struck a servant of his with his hand at all, nor a woman, and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, never struck anything with his hand at all, except that he was striving in the way of Allah. And he was never given a choice between two matters at all, except that the more beloved of them to him was the easiest of them, as long as it was not a sin. If it were a sin, he was the furthest of people from that sin. And he never took revenge for himself for anything done to him, unless the sanctities of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, were violated, then he would take revenge for the sake of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.
