Musnad Ahmad 1153:1940

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from 'Urwah, from 'Aishah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, sent Abu Jahm ibn Hudhayfah as a collector of Zakat. A man disputed with him regarding his Zakat, so Abu Jahm struck him and wounded him. They came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "Retaliation (al-qawad), O Messenger of Allah." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "You shall have such and such [compensation]," but they were not satisfied. He said: "Then you shall have such and such," but they were not satisfied. He said: "Then you shall have such and such," and they were satisfied. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "I will address the people and inform them of your satisfaction." They said: "Yes." So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, addressed them and said: "These people of Lihyan came to me seeking retaliation, so I offered them such and such, and they were satisfied. Are you satisfied?" They said: "No." The Muhajirun (Emigrants) intended to deal with them, but the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, ordered them to refrain, so they refrained. Then he called them and increased [the compensation] for them, and said: "Are you satisfied?" They said: "Yes." He said: "I will address the people and inform them of your satisfaction." They said: "Yes." So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, addressed them, then said: "Are you satisfied?" They said: "Yes."
