Ad-Dahhak ibn Makhlad narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to me, he said: Az-Zubayr ibn Ubayd narrated to me, from Nafi’, he said—meaning Abu ‘Asim, and my father said: I do not know who he is, meaning this Nafi’—he said: I used to trade to Ash-Sham—or to Egypt—he said: Then I prepared to go to Iraq, so I entered upon ‘Aishah, the Mother of the Believers, and I said: "O Mother of the Believers, I have prepared to go to Iraq." She said: "What is it to you and your trade? For I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: 'If one of you has a provision in something, let him not leave it until it changes for him, or becomes disagreeable to him.'" He said: So I went to Iraq, then I entered upon her, and I said: "O Mother of the Believers, by Allah, I did not even return the capital." She repeated the hadith to him—or she said the hadith as I narrated it to you.
