Musnad Ahmad 1153:2082

Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us, he said: Malik ibn Anas narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Salim, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, who informed Abdullah ibn Umar, from Aisha, that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to her: "Do you not see that when your people built the Kaaba, they fell short of the foundations of Ibrahim?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, will you not restore it to the foundations of Ibrahim?" He said: "Were it not for the recentness of your people's disbelief." Ibn Umar said: "If Aisha heard this hadith from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, then I do not see the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, leaving the touching of the two corners that are adjacent to the Hijr except because the House was not completed upon the foundations of Ibrahim."
